Very Brief Update

Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment on my previous post. I've let way too much time pass before writing again but life is busy and I'm afraid this will just have to do for a while. The back is better. It was a muscle pain that passed with time.

I received the best of care while I was under the weather from the dog, aka Nurse Sasha. She sat by my side the entire time giving me deep soulful looks almost willing me to get better. If she had opposable thumbs I'm sure she would have gone into the kitchen to prepare a cold drink and make a snack as well.

Life is very full at the moment so please forgive me my quiet times. I don't know how full time bloggers manage to keep up with daily posts. I'm behind on everything but I'm not going to beat myself up over it. It is what it is. I can only do so much, I have to attend to life first (the physical one not the virtual one.)

I hope everyone is doing well. I will return very soon.

  1. Great to hear that your back is better. Be careful though because it only takes a sneeze to get it out of wack again. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer but I have a bad back too. The pain can so very very bad.

  4. I'm so glad you're better! I was thinking about you. Don't sweat updating--"real life" is always more important than scrambling to write a post.

  7. Okay I only wish the best for you so how about some free advice from a triage nurse who works at a large hospital? initially start with cold on back(any swollen/sore area)20mins on then 20mins off then alternate with heat(hot water bottle/heating pad or pack made with rice, buckwheat etc)Start with GEL tabs of ibuprofen they work quickly-absorb thoroughly so low dose can eventually be used.Any nurse or pharmacist can calculate for you.PROTECT stomach use milk/yogurt/saltene crackers before ibuprofen.WHEN back is better switch to Aleve or generic naproxyn GEL tabs 2 every 12 hours as maintence dose to keep inflamation out.Use these methods to heal and then protect on daily basis.Next comes ideas to keep you safe like pilates moves(done at home slowly to stretch and rehab) or yoga.Research and speed recovery with good water/fluid intake, health protein intake.Best of Luck

  8. My back has gone out in the past. Very painful and debilitating in that you can't do anything easily when it hurts to breathe, even.
So glad you're healing. I agree with what everyone else says: Take it slow, engage in stretching and core-strengthening exercises, drink a lot of water, be kind to your body.

  9. I watched my mother my whole life just move wrong and suddenly not be able to walk for a week or even straighten up. A few times I have faced that myself. Then, the problem quit for me. I was wondering where you were when I missed you all of a sudden. I hope the loss of work did not take too big a toll on your finances. That is always a concern for me. A nice warm bath works for me. Okay, maybe it just relaxes my mind. I am not disputing the use of cold!
